Miss Marple represents much of what you value: love of flowers & use of intellect. and context based on years of observing. stressed from the very 1st book: history repeats, people don’t change & neither do their motivations. Christie was able to address the darkest drives & reflect them in the guise of a gentle, shrewd old lady. remarkable.

letter writing’s truly a dying art. it’s seen as hilariously outdated now because brevity is goal. tied to lack of context & depth of understanding: life lived on the surface. all you can do is hold on to substance & nurture it when you can.

thinking lately of giving presentations about what not to plant in the garden & lessons from your mistakes. not all yours: desert trumpet vine was ‘plant of the month’ at the nursery. have been fighting it ever since. angel cue is ‘adventure’ & gardening has definitely been that.

Dominant Hand: I’m enjoying Pigs Might Fly [by Dick King-Smith] a lot. Kind of a Babe precursor, 1st published in 1980. Adorable little hero.

Alternate Hand: very clever & sweet book. fun to learn things from a book for kids.
