have always been haunted by history’s tragic stories. get angry at others’  arrogant indifference about them: why stories are doomed to be repeated. feel country and world are in very dark time now. so easy to slip past the tipping point.

thinking of Delbert McClinton song about ‘countless enemies that could have been friends.’ still have a hard time seeing that but the line resonates. regrets aren’t useful unless amends are possible, but you can carry knowledge forward. line resonates for a reason.

After writing about a friend getting her car stolen, then coming to understand that she no longer needed it:

more proof of the power of seeing a wider perspective. it’s always soothing to pull back from intense situations. lowers stress & allows for calmer reactions & decisions. hard to remember in the heat of the moment, but worth the effort.
